Dzvinya Podlyashetska is a Ukrainian artist residing in Vienna with her family due to the ongoing Russian invasion of her home country. Her artistic endeavours revolve around expressive paintings and works on paper, stemming from a profound fascination with mental health, human interactions, and emotions. At this juncture in her life, Podlyashetska states her 10-month-old son serves as her greatest inspiration, using his newfound lease of life to ignite and fuel her creativity.
In her artistic practice, Podlyashetska’s creations serve as manifestations and reflections of life itself, vividly portrayed through vibrant colours and a touch of sarcasm. A constant element of ambiguity prevails within her works, encapsulating the intricacies of both simplicity and complexity, tragedy and horror. For her, painting transcends mere expression; it becomes an immersive environment, a space brimming with energy, the passage of time, soul, and love. And, fundamentally, Podlyashetska believes that the role of an artist lies in imbuing this space with profound significance and meaning.
